Neurodivergent Community
Why A Neurodivergent Community?
When I first discovered I was Autistic, I craved the connection of learning from others who were also neurodivergent. I sought it out in various groups on social media. I found the connections and community I was looking for on Facebook and Instagram, but I also saw that as the groups grew, they became more polarized, heated, and less constructive. These dynamics made it harder for me to get what I needed from the groups. Adding to the isolation I experienced.
That's why I set out to create a different kind of community—a welcoming haven for neurodivergent adults, especially those who are new to their journey of self-discovery and identity. This space is designed to be a soft landing pad where individuals can come together to connect, learn, and grow. My hope is that this will be a place for you to find your people. A place where you can truly be yourself and feel accepted for your whole self. A place where you can be a part of building a truly affirming neurodiverse community.
Our community is centered around growth and learning. We celebrate neurodiversity, with a majority of our members being AuDHD, but welcome and embrace various neurotypes. Here, we prioritize connection and sharing our experiences, from the silly and awkward moments to our moments of pride and growth. We see your role as member as not just passive consumer of content but as an active participant and contributor to our community. We value each individual's voice and experience in this process.
So, whether you're seeking to connect with fellow neurodivergent individuals, therapists looking to enhance their neurodivergent-affirming practices, or parents navigating the neurodivergent journey, you'll find a place here.
If you are more interested in the resource library and not the community, there are also options to access the resources alone (this is also a good option while you wait for a seat to open up).

Membership Resources
In an age where we are inundated with information, finding research-backed and neurodivergent-affirming resources can be challenging. By marrying the worlds of research and mental health, I strive to provide you with up-to-date information that helps neurodivergent adults develop positive identities and counter the negative voices we have faced throughout our lives.
The resources provided by Neurodivergent Insights are both research-based and neurodivergent-affirming. They also take into account the voices of neurodivergent adults and those from communities that have been systematically discriminated against (LBTQIA+, BIPOC). You have full access to these resources when you join the community.

Is this community right for me?
This community is for you if:
You can tolerate the level of discomfort that often comes with learning
You can give people the benefit of the doubt and recognize that we are all in different places in our learning journey
When you are activated, you can take enough time (or are learning to) before responding so that you can come from a responsive and not-reactive place
You are able to or are learning to take an intersectional view, recognizing that neurodivergence often intersects with other marginalized populations
You are able to make space for nuance and complexity in your learning
You are interested in really looking at the hard questions and having the hard conversations
You are interested in being a part of building a community with these values
This community is not for you if:
You are currently in crisis, have recently undergone intensive in-patient care, or may be tempted to seek crisis support from this space. Our community is not equipped to offer crisis intervention and is best suited for individuals in a stable phase, who can participate without the risk of destabilization or seeking crisis support here.
You have little tolerance or patience for others who are in a different place in their learning journey
You consistently respond reactively when you are activated
You need a safe space where you are not going to be confronted with new ideas and challenges to how you think
You struggle to be vulnerable
You want easy answers
You are racist, transphobic, or homophobic
Important Disclaimer:
Understanding Our Space
The Neurodivergent Insights Learning Nook is exclusively a psychoeducational environment, and is not a substitute for therapy. Created for exploration and learning about neurodivergence, the Learning Nook complements therapy by offering a community for learning, connection, and discussion.
I recognize that being neurodivergent makes us more likely to experience certain types of trauma. That being said, if you have experienced a significant trauma, psychotic episode, or psychiatric hospitalization in the last year, you must be under the care of a physician and a mental health provider. This is especially important to engage with our content and our community, as exploring this part of yourself may exacerbate some of the symptoms you may already be experiencing.
I also know that finding a neurodivergent affirming therapist (let alone any therapist) can be difficult, and it makes sense that you might want to engage in our community and content while you are looking. If this is the case, I ask that you pay special attention to your “zone of tolerance” when accessing our materials, and if something feels as though it might be triggering, please wait to engage with it until you are under the care of a therapist. Our team and community members are not available for direct personal support.
Given our predominantly neurodivergent membership, many among us have faced trauma. With this awareness, we steer clear of sharing detailed trauma narratives in live sessions, community posts, or DMs to avoid triggering others. While it’s okay to talk about trauma in broad terms, for example: “I have a traumatic history,” for context, details can be triggering for others. For in-depth support, professional mental health services are recommended.
All of that said, if you are looking for a supportive space of other neurodivergent people who understand how hard living in this neurotypical world can be, you’ve found the right place. This is a place where you can bravely unmask and learn about your own neurodivergence.
Designed to Stay Intentional
The Neurodivergent Insights Learning Nook – Where Learning is Intentional
Our learning community is intentionally designed to bring people in slowly so that we can retain our culture. For this reason, 20 new seats open up each month. Once seats are filled, interested persons will be put on a waitlist and you will be notified when we re-open doors.
Our Basic Membership offers a great way to stay engaged while waiting for a community spot. With the Basic Membership, you'll have access to everything The Learning Nook offers, except for the community and live events. This includes all Neurodivergent Insights workbooks, masterclasses, and access to recordings of our live workshops.
For people looking for all the resources but not the community, the Basic Membership is a great option.

Our community may not be the perfect fit for everyone. We pride ourselves on being a learning community that fosters a brave space rather than a safe space. In a brave space, we encourage vulnerability, growth, and learning. Many of our members join us shortly after Neurodivergent identification or diagnosis, and some are still in the process of learning neurodivergent-affirming language and practices. We embrace complexity as a core value, which means we make room for diverse experiences. If you're seeking a space exclusively for neurodivergent individuals where everyone is already well-versed in the language, our community may not align with your expectations.
When misunderstandings occur within our community, we uphold a commitment to not engage in "pile ons." Instead, we encourage members to respond reflectively (non-reactive) that promotes growth, mutual learning, and understanding.

Is the Community similar to social media platforms? No, this community operates independently of popular social media networks, which is a deliberate choice. We utilize the Circle platform, which may share some features with platforms like Facebook and Reddit, but it fundamentally diverges in several ways. Within this community, we provide structured spaces for weekly conversations, ensuring that meaningful discussions can thrive. Additionally, we offer areas for more relaxed and informal interactions. Importantly, all resources, including masterclasses, live events, and community engagement, are consolidated within one accessible location. This creates a cohesive and focused environment for our members.
Who Am I?
Hi. I’m Dr. Neff (she/they).
I am a neurodivergent (Autistic-ADHD) clinician, parent, and advocate.
I work with late-in-life diagnosed Autistic and ADHD people and create mental health and wellness resources with the neurodivergent person in mind. I also am a co-host of the podcast Divergent Conversations. My goal is to make this journey easier for you than it was for me. To allow people who have just identified that they are neurodivergent to have access to resources that are both affirming and backed by science. To help you find a community where you can be yourself.
As I have become more aware of my needs as a neurodivergent person, I have become more protective of my energy. To better align with my needs, I've adopted a more intentional approach to managing my energy and time. I realized that constant DMs, emails, and social media notifications were draining a considerable amount of my energy. To channel my energy in a more intentional and focused manner, I made the decision to practice what I preach and create healthy boundaries. So, I limit access to me through these conventional means and have rechanneled that energy into an intentional community. The Learning Nook embodies this approach. It is a dedicated space where I can concentrate my efforts and share my insights in a meaningful way. This exclusive community is now the sole avenue to connect with me. I built the community I would have wanted, and I genuinely enjoy showing up there to connect with everyone.
