Last year, I decided to create a workbook on emotion regulation. Little did I know that my high-context brain would lead me to create not one but nine workbooks! It turns out emotions are just too complex for one workbook alone! This series takes a bottom-up approach to understanding and managing emotions.
The first stage delves into body awareness and emotion recognition, exploring topics like Interoception and Alexithymia.
In the second stage, covered in Emotion 101, we dive deep into the science of emotions and explore the very essence of what emotions are. I’ve found that many Autistic individuals and people with alexithymia benefit greatly from understanding emotions before they can effectively work with them.
The final section of this series explores the various factors that influence our emotions. We discuss cognitive, body-based, interpersonal, personality, and situational factors that can impact our emotional experiences. Please note that in this mini-series, the first chapter is repeated to provide essential context.
